Getting the word out that there is a Breast Cancer Support Group in Park City is easy. Getting cancer patients to attend comes with a unique challenge.

Let me explain:

If one is newly diagnosed, the last thing she's thinking of is a support group - life has been turned upside down.

If one is in the middle of chemo, which is causing illness, she may not want to come.

If one is in the midst of radiation, and dealing with fatigue so deep, she may not have the energy to come.

If one has completed the in-hospital protocol, she wants to put cancer behind her, and being with other patients can be a reminder

- of hair lost

- of a deformed and/or amputated body

- of the worst year in her life. Period.

Regardless of where you are on the journey, I open the group to you.

You see, we "get" it - pink sister.

We understand the whirling dervish of thoughts and fears and questions and...

We understand the toxic poisoning of chemo and how you just...

feel...

miserable.

We understand the radiation fatigue - you've never been so tired in all your life.

We understand you don't want to be brought back down with post traumatic stress.

The support group was created to educate.

Each session will begin at 6:00pm and have a special guest and/or a topic to be addressed. At 6:30/6:45, our guest will address your questions.

At 7:00 pm, the group becomes private, just for those of us who need to connect with others

- to connect

- to befriend

- to ask questions

- to find answers

- to be with those who "get it".

You are not alone. We are here for you.
