The letter D for DEBUNK. There are so many myths about breast cancer to debunk. Don’t worry. I’ll address many of them throughout to month. 1.Breastfeeding prevents breast cancer and the longer you breastfeed the less likely you are to get cancer. This is not true. We will discuss it in greater detail later. 2. Young women don’t get breast cancer. Absolutely untrue. And when the do get it, it’s usually very aggressive. 3. Men don’t get breast cancer. They do. We will learn more about this when we get to the letter W. 4. Awareness is the key to early detection, and early detection saves lives. Folks, it’s kind of a crapshoot. Even stage 0 cancer can metastasize. 5. Breast cancer first spreads to lymph nodes and then to distant organs. Sometimes. And sometimes it spreads through the blood stream.
I could go on and on. More to come.
