K is for Komen, naturally. While Komen is the pinkest and most visible breast cancer charity it has traditionally spent only 19% of funds raised on research, the rest going to operating costs, including high salaries, according to curekomen.org. In contrast, Metavivor spends 100% of funds raised for research into metastatic breast cancer. It’s looks like Komen is finally responding to criticism and creating a fund for MBC. This is great news. I look forward to Komen continuing to do right by MBC patients.
